Nabji Trail – An Enchanting Winter Trek in Bhutan

This new trek offers everything that makes Bhutan special, with only one aspect missing: other trekkers! An ideal post-harvest winter trek carried out from November up to April, this trail is a six day low-altitude trek (1000 – 1500 meters) that traverses through ecological rich environment and through the homeland of the Monpa people- the earliest settlers in Bhutan. On this tour, you will see cultural history dating back to 8th century, unique tribal group still in the practice of animistic shamanism and Buddhism. You will also possibly see the endangered Golden Langur (Trichypithecusgeei), one of the rarest primates, which can only be found in Bhutan and neighboring Assam.

As you visit the small traditional villages of the Monpa community, you'll see how the past remains an integral part of the very vibrant present.

This trip could well coincide with one of colorful religious festivals where we will spend time to attend the masked dances, which attract thousands of villagers from far and wide. Mingling with the locals in this joyous celebration—a highlight of their social calendar - is a unique honor, bestowed to only a limited number of visitors each year.
